One of those ‘Elizabeth Resurrection’ stories that you REALLY wish the producers would do if/when they decide to bring her back; nice job.
The twist of making the villain a relative of Kolya was particularly appreciated; of Atlantis’s ‘individual’ villains- Kolya, Michael, and arguably Todd; Oberoth didn’t really do enough as an individual as he was more of a figurehead for the collective Asuran consciousness rather than doing anything as himself-, Kolya was the one I always found most interesting due to his relatively straightforward nature, and his son definitely continued that tradition.
‘Tricking’ Elizabeth into thinking that she was on their side against the ‘villains’ from Atlantis is one of those twists that’s so simple only someone as ruthlessly demented as Kolya and his progeny would try it, and John’s internal struggle as his hope at the chance of getting Elizabeth back clashes with his fear of losing her again was very well-portrayed, although the moment when John won Elizabeth over by saying that he’d actually ALLOW her to shoot him was definitely dramatic.
The concluding confrontation could have been a bit longer- maybe a scene where John has a chance to shoot Aldran and turns it down, grimly informing the other man that if he WAS the ‘monster’ Aldran’s convinced himself he was, he would have shot him the first chance he had-, but the last couple of chapters as John finally admitted how he feels to Elizabeth worked out very well, neatly reflecting how she gives him the ‘freedom’ to be vulnerable with someone else and returns that ability to be open with comparative ease once their feelings have been shared.

I love your story and I had to tell you I have been working on one about Koya having 2 sons, one a military commander ad the other a doctor. One good and one evil. I was going to have them kidnap Elizabeth as a means of revenge. In my story she was going to be pregnant with John's child. There is a problem though she is having a bad reaction to the ancient gene and may loose the baby. Let me know what you think.
